Seattle Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival

TIMELINE: 5 WEEKS, SPRING 2023

An integral event for the Japanese American community in Seattle, this weekend-long event hosts thousands of people to delight in Japanese food, dance, craft, and other cultural activities. The unofficial Symbol set is intended to highlight the richness and vibrancy of the occasion. The set is designed be able to be applied throughout the festival's design system, including signage, tickets, and merchandise.

GAMES, PERFORMANCES, ART & FOOD

The project features imagery that highlights both iconic elements of Japanese culture and lesser-known items, such as darumaotoshi, a traditional game, and chasen, a matcha whisk essential to the Japanese tea ceremony. The symbols focus communicating the diversity and excitement of activities that the festival hosts.
